DIN 1.2083 steel is chromium alloyed stainless plastic mold steel. It is equivalent to AISI 420 steel. The steel 1.2083 is a major steels for hot pressing in circulation.
1.2083 stainless steel is generally supplied annealed condition with a hardness < 230HB. It can also be delivered ESR and quenched and tempered to 320 HB.
Main characteristics of DIN 1.2083 are :
– a good atmospheric corrosion resistance,
– an excellent polishability,
– a good machinability in annealed condition,
– a high hardenability
– a good wear resistance

Pre-Heating to 600℃,Then heat to forged temperature. Soak at 800-1100°C, ensure heat thorough. Then start forged, the forged temperature no low than 650℃. After forging, cool slowly.
Slowly heat to 750-800℃,then slowly Cools to 538℃(1000℉) in heat treatment furnace. Then cool in air. After annealing hardness HBS: 225 Max
1.2083 steel having very high hardenability and should be hardened by cooling in still air. The use of a salt bath or controlled atmosphere furnace is desirable to minimize decarburization, and if not available, pack hardening in spent pitch coke is suggested.
Quenching temperature / ℃ : 1020~1050
Quenching medium: Oil cooling
Hardness: 50 HRc
Tempering temperature / ℃ : 200-300
After tempering hardness HRC or higher: 28-34 HRc
1.2083 is suitable for electric erosion operation, suitable for acid good polishing mold plastics and requirements. Mainly used in the production of PVC mold, wearability and filling the mold, including the hot hard type of plastic mold, long-life mold, such as: disposable tableware mold, optical components production, such as camera, and the sunglasses, medical containers and etc.
Quality assured by ISO 9001:2008 quality management system. Our all 2083 steel all had by SEP 1921-84 ultrasonic inspection (UT Test). Quality Grade: E/e, D/d, C/c.
