API 5L X70 pipe is a premium grade piping material in API 5L standard specifications. Also called L485 pipe, as it’s yield strength
minimum in 485 Mpa (70,300 psi). API 5L X70 covers manufacturing types in seamless and welded (ERW, SAW) types, both applied
for oil and gas transmissions.
API X70 carbon steel line pipe can be defined as steel pipe with high carbon content and alloying compound. API 5L X 70 carbon steel seamless pipe In addition to trace amounts of other elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, etc., its alloy has a high content of manganese and silicon. The addition of all these elements helps to improve the mechanical properties of X70 carbon steel pipe.
This can be seen from the low yield strength (485 MPa) of the API 5L X70 Class B LSAW tube. It also has a minimum tensile strength of 635 MPa. The surface of API 5L X70 SCH 40 DSAW tubes is treated in different types, such as black, anticorrosive oil, hot-dip galvanized or cold-galvanized.
