Be careful when switching from zero spangle to large spangle
Recently, large-spangle products have been in hot demand in the
galvanized sheet market and the prices are higher than zero-spangle products. Therefore, some companies that originally produced zero-spangle products plan to switch to large-spangle products. Here, we would like to remind everyone that you need to be careful when switching from zero spangle to large spangle!
1) Large span galvanized sheet is a backward product
Since zinc and lead are associated minerals, the purity of zinc ingots obtained from early smelting was not high, and there was a certain amount of lead. Lead is a zinc splatter-promoting element that will form a beautiful looking spangle when the coating solidifies, so the early Galvanized sheets all have spangle, so large spangle is called normal spangle. Large span galvanized sheets have better appearance and performance in the early stages of use, and due to preconceptions, they have been accepted by people in long-term use. Later, with the improvement of zinc smelting technology and the strengthening of environmental protection requirements, the carcinogenic element lead was removed during zinc smelting, allowing products without spangle to be produced. However, people's habits are difficult to change for a while. In order to produce large spangle products, people intentionally added antimony elements. Therefore, large spangle galvanized sheet is a backward product.
2) Large span galvanized sheet is a low quality product
In terms of appearance, large spangle galvanized sheets have coarse grains, slight unevenness, and poor coating performance. They cannot be used as color-removal substrates, let alone places that require painting such as automobiles and home appliances. They can only be left bare. Used in the construction industry. In terms of corrosion resistance, both lead and antimony will gather at the junction of zinc flowers during crystallization. After a period of use, blackening will occur and the corrosion resistance will decrease. Therefore, large spangle products are "good but not useful" and "not long-lasting but good-looking". They are low-quality products.
3) Zero-spangle replacing large-spangle is an inevitable trend
Zero-spangle
galvanized sheet has a smooth surface, uniform gloss, superior corrosion performance, and good coating performance. It is suitable for various purposes such as modern industrial automobiles and home appliances. It is also an ideal substrate for color-coated sheets. It is a leading product abroad and is becoming more and more popular domestically. Becoming more and more accepted by people. It can be said that all occasions where large-spangle galvanized sheets were originally used can be replaced by zero-spangle galvanized sheets. However, large-spangle galvanized sheets can only be used in a very small range such as building materials. They have been eliminated as early as the 1970s abroad and have been mostly eliminated in China.
It is an inevitable trend for zero spangle to replace large spangle. The very few customers who insist on buying large spangle products are short-term actions due to technical limitations. As practitioners in the galvanizing industry, we must vigorously promote the application of zero spangle products and persuade downstream users to adopt high-quality products. The zero-spangle replaces the low-quality large spangle and promotes the technological progress of the galvanizing industry.
