SAE1006 low carbon steel

1.Basic information

Material SAE1006, standard ASTM A510M-82, belongs to low carbon steel. It has the characteristics of high elongation, smooth surface, mirror effect, standard thickness, straight plate shape, rust resistance, etc. It is suitable for various hardware stamping, stretching and performance good. Such as lighting, fans, hoods, VCD machine casings, motorcycle fuel tanks, rice cookers, etc. It is an ordinary carbon steel with a content of less than 0.2%. It is named SAE1006-85-HR in nsoft's material database. 2. Material composition and use

Characteristics and uses of SAE1006: It has the characteristics of high elongation, smooth surface to achieve mirror effect, standard thickness, straight plate shape, rust resistance, etc. It is suitable for various hardware stampings and has good tensile properties. Such as LED brackets, stators, lighting, fans, motorcycle fuel tanks, steel pipes, household appliances and casings and other hardware products. Adopting SAE1006, the production facilities are equipped with hot-rolled plate surface treatment pickling lines, bright bell annealing furnaces, four-roller reversible cold rolling, and are equipped with plate surface precision flattening units, stress-relieving plane tension and leveling machines, and high-precision slitting units.

3.The main differences in the chemical composition of 1006 and 1008 are:

1) The amount of carbon C is inconsistent:

1006 contains C less than 0.08, 1008 contains less than 0.10

2) The amount of manganese (Mn) is inconsistent:

1006 contains Mn less than 0.45, 1008 contains less than 0.50

If compared with the domestic series of brands, 1006 and 1008 belong to the same brand but are one level apart.

At the same time, the American standard does not separate A568/A568M, but as one standard;
