Amorphous alloy transformers have the following disadvantages
1) The saturation magnetic density is low, the saturation magnetic density of the amorphous alloy core
Usually around 1.56T, the saturation magnetic density of the transformer is about 20% lower than that of conventional 1.9T silicon steel sheets. Therefore, the design magnetic density of the transformer also needs to be reduced by 20%. The design magnetic density of amorphous alloy oil transformers is usually below 1.35T, and the design magnetic density of amorphous alloy dry-type transformers is usually below 1.2T.
2) Amorphous aggregate iron core strips are sensitive to stress, and their no-load performance is easily degraded after being stressed. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the structure. The iron core should be suspended on the support frame and coil, and the whole should only bear its own gravity. At the same time, special attention should be paid during the assembly process so that the iron core cannot be stressed. Methods such as tapping should be reduced.
3) The magnetostrictive deformation is about 10% larger than that of conventional silicon steel sheets, and its noise is difficult to control. This is also one of the main reasons limiting the widespread promotion of amorphous alloy transformers. At present, both China Southern Power Grid and State Grid have put forward higher requirements for the noise of amorphous alloy transformers, which are divided into sensitive areas and non-sensitive areas, and have targeted sound level requirements, requiring further reduction of the magnetic density of the core design.
4) Amorphous alloy strips are relatively thin, with a thickness of only 0.03mm, and cannot be made into laminates like conventional silicon steel sheets. Can only be made into rolled iron core form. Therefore, the core structure of amorphous alloy transformers cannot be processed by conventional transformer manufacturers themselves, and they usually need to be purchased as a whole. Corresponding to the rectangular cross-section of the rolled iron core strip, the coils of amorphous alloy transformers are usually made into rectangular structures;
5) The degree of localization is not enough. At present, Hitachi Metals mainly imports amorphous alloy strips, and is gradually realizing localization. Domestic Antai Technology and Qingdao Yunlu have amorphous alloy wide-band strips (213mm, 170mm, 142mm), but there is still a certain gap in stability between their performance and imported strips.
6) The maximum strip length limit is due to the size limit of the early annealing furnace for amorphous alloy strip. However, it has been basically solved and can be used to produce amorphous alloy iron core frames with a maximum peripheral strip length of 10m. It can be used to manufacture amorphous alloy
dry transformers of 3150kVA and below and amorphous alloy oil transformers of 10000kVA and below.
