What is "silicon steel"?
As the name suggests,
silicon steel is named after it contains silicon. It is an iron-silicon alloy with a silicon content of 0.5% to 4.8%. Mainly used for core manufacturing of various motors, generators and transformers. Silicon steel sheets can be divided into: low carbon steel sheets (containing C ≤ 0.1%), silicon-free
electrical steel sheets (containing Si ≤ 0.0l%), low silicon steel sheets (containing Si 0.5% ~ 2%), High silicon steel sheet (containing Si 3.0%~4.5%); according to its main use, it can be divided into: small motor steel (containing Si within 2%), general motor steel (containing Si 2%~3%), transformer steel (Containing Si 3.0%~4.5%), steel for relays (containing Si within 2%); according to its production method, it can be divided into: hot-rolled silicon steel sheet (containing Si 1%~2% is called hot-rolled low silicon steel sheet Or hot-rolled motor steel, containing about 3.0%~4.5% Si is called hot-rolled high silicon steel sheet or hot-rolled transformer steel) and cold-rolled silicon steel sheet; cold-rolled silicon steel sheet is further divided into cold-rolled oriented silicon steel sheet (containing about Si 3%) and cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet or cold-rolled motor steel (containing Si about 0.5%~3%).
Silicon steel - the heart of motors, generators and
transformers
Whether they are oriented silicon steel sheets or non-oriented silicon steel sheets, they all have the same function - magnetic conductivity. Just like water pipes are used to carry water, wires are used to carry electricity, and the role of silicon steel sheets is to conduct magnetism; but it is different. For our common magnets, whether they are energized or not, the magnetism is there. Silicon steel is a soft magnetic material like industrial pure iron. That is, the magnetism exists when the wire coil surrounding the steel sheet is energized, and disappears when the wire coil is turned off. Because silicon steel has better properties than industrial pure iron (i.e. higher magnetic induction and lower iron loss), it has basically replaced industrial pure iron.
Silicon steel is used as the core material of various motors, generators and transformers. Its role in these motors, generators and transformers is as important as the human heart to people. During the process of magnetic conduction, silicon steel converts electrical energy into magnetic energy, and then converts magnetic energy into mechanical energy, thermal energy and other energy to operate various motors, generators and transformers.
