Normal inspection of transformers in operation

1. Inspection items for transformers in operation
1. Whether the load current is within the rated range, whether there are any drastic changes, and whether the operating voltage is normal.
2. Whether the oil level, oil color, and oil temperature exceed the allowable values, and whether there is oil leakage.
3. Whether the porcelain sleeve is clean, whether there are cracks, damage, stains, discharge phenomena, and whether the contact terminals are discolored or overheated.
4. Whether the discoloration of the silica gel in the moisture absorber is saturated, and whether the operating sound of the transformer is normal.
5. Whether there is air in the gas relay, whether it is full of oil, whether the glass of the oil level gauge is broken, and whether the diaphragm of the explosion-proof tube is intact.
6. Whether the transformer shell, lightning arrester and neutral point are well grounded, and whether the transformer oil valve is normal.
7. Whether the doors, windows, shutters, iron mesh guardrails and fire-fighting equipment in the transformer room are intact, and whether the transformer foundation is deformed.

2. Requirements for inspection of transformers in operation
When the power substation and distribution owner is on duty, inspections should be carried out once per shift. When no one is on duty, inspections can be once a week. Special inspections should be added after severe load changes, abnormal weather, new installations and transformer overhauls, and the cycle is irregular.

3. Reasons for inspection of transformers in operation
Transformer is one of the main electrical equipment in the power system. Its operating status directly determines the safety, stability and power supply reliability of the power system. The transformer temperature is the most important technical indicator to describe the operating status of the transformer. If the transformer is operated at an excessively high temperature for a long time, the life of the internal insulating cardboard will be shortened, causing breakdown accidents, which may lead to large-scale power outages.
